The story

The Orso Ottoman is a low rectangular piece by Mathieu Delacroix, part of the Orso collection.

Its form is compact and spare: a rectangular block with softly rounded corners and edges, resting on a slender dark plinth that is slightly recessed beneath the volume. The squat proportions keep the piece low to the ground. From the front, the recessed base creates a slight visual lift that stops the block from sitting flat on the floor.

The piece is upholstered in a light brownish-grey textile with a suede-like surface. The fabric is subtle at close range and consistent across the Orso collection without requiring active coordination with other pieces.

The Ottoman belongs to the Orso seating family alongside the sofa, armchair, chaise longue, and divan. Mathieu Delacroix built the collection around a consistent vocabulary: one textile register, one set of proportional decisions, adapted across distinct seating formats. The Ottoman is the most reduced expression of that approach.

Mathieu Delacroix is a French designer based in Paris, working across object, furniture, and interior design. A graduate of the École Supérieure d'Art et Design de Saint-Étienne (2016), he also studied at Nagoya City University in Japan, an experience that continues to inform his approach to form, material, and the cultural weight carried by everyday objects.
