The story
The Orso Armchair by Mathieu Delacroix is a compact upholstered armchair from the Orso collection, a Monde Singulier exclusive.
Back and arms form a single continuous curve, wrapping around the seat without interruption. The monolithic silhouette rests on a recessed dark circular base that keeps the floor plane clean. From any angle, the piece reads as a closed, self-contained volume.
A neutral taupe textile with a subtle weave covers every surface consistently. The uniform material treatment reinforces the sense of a unified form rather than an assembled object.
Mathieu Delacroix designed the Orso collection around a compact footprint and a formal language that sits between contemporary and classic. The Orso Armchair distills those intentions into a single chair: substantial enough to anchor a corner, restrained enough to integrate into almost any interior.
About Mathieu Delacroix
Mathieu Delacroix is a French designer based in Paris, working across object, furniture, and interior design. A graduate of the École Supérieure d'Art et Design de Saint-Étienne (2016), he also studied at Nagoya City University in Japan, an experience that continues to inform his approach to form, material, and the cultural weight carried by everyday objects.
His early work earned international recognition at Dubai Design Week, the Milan Design Week, and PAD London. He also won First Prize in the Cinna Young Talent competition for his Tasso vase series. Alongside collaborations with studios including Guillaume Delvigne, Frédéric Forest & Clémentine Giaconia, and RDAI, Delacroix maintains an independent practice rooted in drawing, emotion, and material exploration.
