Bureau 1989 is a long desk in brushed stainless steel, designed by Nouveau Standard as part of collection 1989.
The glass top rests above a length of violet sapphire wool satin, pleated and suspended beneath the frame for its full length, a drapery motif inspired by the "dressed" domestic interiors of the late 1980s. The angular legs taper inward with sharp vertical cuts, their industrial precision offset by the softness of the draped textile. The opposition of cold brushed steel and soft satin is the 1989 ethos in its clearest form.
Metalwork by Bylab in Angers; textiles by Florence Hamon in Nantes. Made in France.
Nouveau Standard is a design and creative studio founded in 2024 by Simon Brandeau and Jonathan Fleurance. Extending their architectural practice within Atelier Standard, based in Nantes, the duo has developed a universe dedicated to collectible furniture and objects.
