The story
This extra large mirror was designed by Maurizio Mariani for Vivai Del Sud in Roma in the early 1970s. It mixes rattan, bamboo and cane from India, making this decorative frame entirely handmade quite unique and beautiful. Vivai Del Sud was a renowned brand in Roma in the 1960s and 1970s, inspired by Gabriella Crespi, bringing the mediteranean bamboo and rattan style to the high society. A rare find, highly decorative, in very good vintage condition.
About Vivai del Sud
Vivai del Sud was an Italian manufacturer of furniture in bamboo, rattan and natural materials, active in the 1970s. It produced seating, tables, shelving and mirrors, sometimes combining bamboo with brass, including designs by Giusto Puri Purini and Maurizio Mariani. Its production embodies the Mediterranean, relaxed luxury of Italian design of the period. Collectors seek its well-preserved pieces for their lightness and elegance.
