The Antica Floor Lamp from the Alcocer collection by OHLA Studio reads as a single sculptural object before it reads as a lamp.
A central pole rises from a tripod base, branching into three curved arms each supporting a conical shade. The shades carry the hand-formed wavy rim that runs as a formal motif across every piece in the Antica series. At this three-arm format, the tripod and branching arms produce an open structure with a clear silhouette, the kind of object that contributes to a room's spatial reading regardless of whether it is lit.
The copper throughout the Antica series comes from recycled workshop scraps, a recovery practice rooted in the goldsmithing traditions of Tarascan metalwork. The material is treated to a light grey metallic finish, uniform across base, pole, arms, and shades. That tonal consistency gives the floor lamp a monolithic quality despite its open structure.
The Antica Floor Lamp suits large living spaces, reading corners with generous ceiling heights, or rooms where a lighting piece is expected to carry formal weight. It shares its craft origins with the Antica Chandelier, the Antica Single Pendant, and all other pieces in the Alcocer collection, the 2022 debut of OHLA Studio by Giulia Zink and Mat Trumbull.

About
Ohla Studio
OHLA Studio is a multidisciplinary design studio founded in 2017 by Giulia Zink and Mat Trumbull, based in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The Italian-American duo works across art direction, interior design, and landscape design, with a practice rooted in close collaboration with local artisans and centuries-old craft traditions.
Their work is guided by a single conviction: "We manifest age-old visions with contemporary possibilities." Each piece begins as a metaphor, a formal idea resolved through traditional techniques including stone carving, goldsmithing, and metal casting, with references ranging from Fabergé jewelry and Mayan stone relics to Italian travertine quarries. Materials are chosen for their sensory presence: cast aluminum, local travertine, bronze, ceramics, copper, and leather.
The studio relocated to San Miguel de Allende during the COVID-19 pandemic, a move that proved formative. Embedded in a city with deep craft traditions, OHLA Studio expanded into collectible furniture, launching the Alcocer collection in 2022. The Alcocer pieces were introduced at the Unno Gallery in Mexico City in February 2023, marking the studio's first foray into exhibition-scale furniture. The practice also extends to residential and hospitality projects: the Sin Nombre residence and gallery in San Miguel de Allende, estates in Napa, California, and boutique hotels in Mérida.
Collectible works by OHLA Studio on Monde Singulier include pieces from the Alcocer collection, each handcrafted in collaboration with artisans in San Miguel de Allende.
