TROCADÉRO - Stelle

The Trocadéro Stelle is a decorative column by Marika Dru, a sculptural object from her Trocadéro collection at Atelier MKD.

Standing as a tall, slender cylinder on a slightly wider round base, the Stelle functions simultaneously as a display pedestal and an autonomous sculptural presence. Its minimalist form contains no ornamental additions, relying entirely on the interplay between the polish of the surface, the geometry of the cylinder, and the reddish-brown depth of the wood grain visible beneath the high-gloss lacquer. The piece reads differently depending on viewing distance: from across a room, a simple dark vertical; at close range, a surface rich in tonal variation.

The highly polished finish maximizes light reflection across the cylindrical surface, creating a near-mirror quality that contrasts with the warmth of the underlying wood grain.

Within the Trocadéro collection, the Stelle extends Marika Dru's formal language into the register of the object, a piece that owes as much to sculpture as to furniture, whose purpose is as much spatial as functional.
