The story

A timeless vintage piece, this mid-century sideboard feels imposing and glamourous, with thick, straight lines of brass adorning its exterior of reflective black lacquer. Glossy black lacquer, paired with bright brass accents, feels crisp and luxe. Its boxy, simple style, featuring 4 doors and 5 drawers, is typical of both the 1970s and designer Jean Claude Mahey for Maison Romeo design. Of high-quality material, this sideboard has been maintained in very good vintage condition.

About J.C. Mahey

French designer Jean-Claude Mahey worked in the 1970s, in the circle of the Paris house Maison Roméo, producing furniture that plays on brass, chrome, Lucite and stone. His coffee tables, consoles and lamps often combine polished metal frames with travertine, glass or acrylic, in a precise and luxurious style typical of French 1970s decoration. Collectors look for signed or well-documented pieces with crisp metalwork and original finishes.
