The story

Unique brutalist coffee table by Belgian architect and designer Erik Deforce in 1977. Solid black lacquered structure and feet are framing a charcoal patinated sculpture made of ceramic, that looks like a post modern abstract painting. The table is signed ED and dated 77. This unique table has been fully restored, relacquered, and is found in a great vintage condition.

About Erik Deforce

Belgian designer, painter and ceramicist, Erik Deforce created furniture in the late 1960s and 1970s for Belgian manufacturers including Gervan and Hi-Plan in Ingelmunster. His Ranger lounge chair with ottoman of around 1970 and the chairs of his Lord range show a bold, generous style with deep upholstery and assertive curves. Beyond furniture he developed a parallel practice in painting and ceramics, which continues under the name Ric Def.
