The story
The Cabin View Simple Mirror (L) is a large oval wall mirror by Rudy Guénaire, from the Croisière collection.
Its proportions are tall and narrow, the vertical oval occupying wall space with the presence of a window or shallow architectural relief. The frame is cream lacquered wood with a wide, smoothly rounded profile. The lacquer is applied to a consistent matte finish, the inner edge creating a soft threshold between the frame and the reflective glass surface.
In the large format, the cream lacquer functions as a structural element in the room rather than a decorative border. Its neutral tone works against a range of wall finishes without competing with the surrounding palette.
The Croisière collection's Cabin View series references the oval portholes of ocean liners and early long-haul aircraft. Rudy Guénaire reinterprets the porthole as a vertically oriented mirror, the elongated form suggesting a frame for viewing rather than a functional opening in a hull.
About Rudy Guénaire

Rudy Guénaire draws everything by hand. No 3D software, no renderings, just pencil on paper, from floor plans to furniture to napkin holders. It is the most legible fact about how he works, and it shapes what his spaces feel like: particular, considered, resistant to the generic.
He came to design sideways. A graduate of HEC, he co-founded PNY (Paris New York) in 2012 as a restaurateur, and it was through building out successive PNY locations across Paris, Lyon, Strasbourg, and Bordeaux that he discovered a talent for interior design. Working alongside architects CUT and Bernard Dubois sharpened that instinct further. In 2021, he formalized the practice as Studio Night Flight, a name taken from Saint-Exupéry.
