The Antica Chandelier is the most architecturally ambitious piece in the Alcocer collection by OHLA Studio, a series rooted in pre-Hispanic copper metalsmithing from Michoácán, Mexico.
Seven slender curved arms extend from a brushed circular canopy, each ending in a flared conical shade. The shades carry the hand-formed undulating rim that defines the entire Antica series, but at this scale the repetition of seven wavy edges forms a sculptural field rather than a single ornamental detail. Seen from below, the chandelier reads as a composition: all curves aligned in a downward cascade from a single point.
The copper used throughout the Antica line is sourced from workshop scraps, processed by artisan goldsmiths drawing on Tarascan metalworking traditions. The uniform matte silver finish across all seven shades and the canopy gives the chandelier a restrained palette that reads architectural before it reads decorative.
The Antica Chandelier suits a large dining room, a double-height entrance, or a generous reception space. Within the Alcocer collection, it anchors the Antica series from above, linking the single and linear pendant formats with a scale that the collection's craft story can sustain. OHLA Studio, founded by Giulia Zink and Mat Trumbull, launched the Alcocer collection in 2022 in San Miguel de Allende.

Ohla Studio
OHLA Studio is a multidisciplinary design studio founded in 2017 by Giulia Zink and Mat Trumbull, based in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The Italian-American duo works across art direction, interior design, and landscape design, with a practice rooted in close collaboration with local artisans and centuries-old craft traditions.
Their work is guided by a single conviction: "We manifest age-old visions with contemporary possibilities." Each piece begins as a metaphor, a formal idea resolved through traditional techniques including stone carving, goldsmithing, and metal casting, with references ranging from Fabergé jewelry and Mayan stone relics to Italian travertine quarries. Materials are chosen for their sensory presence: cast aluminum, local travertine, bronze, ceramics, copper, and leather.
The studio relocated to San Miguel de Allende during the COVID-19 pandemic, a move that proved formative. Embedded in a city with deep craft traditions, OHLA Studio expanded into collectible furniture, launching the Alcocer collection in 2022. The Alcocer pieces were introduced at the Unno Gallery in Mexico City in February 2023, marking the studio's first foray into exhibition-scale furniture. The practice also extends to residential and hospitality projects: the Sin Nombre residence and gallery in San Miguel de Allende, estates in Napa, California, and boutique hotels in Mérida.
