The story
The M_017 is a travertine console from the Monolith Collection by Marc Personick.
An elongated oval top sits on two conical bases. The contrast between the flat horizontal plane and the tapered vertical supports creates a tension that makes the piece appear lighter than its mass. The conical bases are broad at their base and narrow toward the stone they carry, a form that draws from both geological and architectural references.
Travertine is the material throughout. The natural texture of the stone, with its characteristic pores and warm beige tones, is left visible: no filler, no polish. The surface records the way the stone formed over millions of years, and no two consoles are identical.
The M_017 reads as a console in a domestic context: entryway, living room, or bedroom. In the Monolith Collection, it sits alongside pieces such as the M_006 console as one of Marc Personick's ongoing investigations into support structures and horizontal planes in natural stone.
About Monolith
Monolith is a New York design studio and gallery founded in 2023 by Marc Personick. The practice centers on one formal idea: brutalist furniture design that belongs in the home with the same authority it occupies in architecture. Every piece begins with geometry and mass, then submits to the logic of the material.
Stone and wood structure the Monolith palette. Travertine, volcanic and porous, arrives cream-colored and marked by natural incident: veining, pores, the record of its formation. White oak runs warmer and more immediate, offsetting the stone's geological weight. Together, the two materials define the studio's range: neither polished nor rough, but deliberately between.
Delivery
Every piece is packed and shipped under insurance, from the workshop to you. White glove delivery (unpacking, installation, packaging removal) is available on request. Delivery is not charged at checkout: we send you a quote within 24 business hours of your order. You have 5 days to accept and pay it (secure payment link or bank transfer), otherwise your order is cancelled and fully refunded.
