The story
The M_009 is a travertine nightstand from the Monolith Collection by Marc Personick.
Three rectangular blocks compose the piece: two vertical forms stand side by side, a horizontal slab rests across their tops. The structure is compact and direct. No hardware, no visible connection, just stone on stone, bearing weight the way stone has always done. The proportions suit a bedside position, but the object reads as sculpture at any scale.
Travertine, with its characteristic pores and fine horizontal striations, is the only material. The surface is unpolished, giving the piece the same tactile quality as rough-quarried stone. The warm beige tone shifts slightly with the angle of light, exposing the depth of the material.
The M_009 sits alongside the other table forms in the Monolith Collection as a demonstration of Marc Personick's structural logic: the simplest arrangement of mass produces the most resolved form.
About Monolith
Monolith is a New York design studio and gallery founded in 2023 by Marc Personick. The practice centers on one formal idea: brutalist furniture design that belongs in the home with the same authority it occupies in architecture. Every piece begins with geometry and mass, then submits to the logic of the material.
Stone and wood structure the Monolith palette. Travertine, volcanic and porous, arrives cream-colored and marked by natural incident: veining, pores, the record of its formation. White oak runs warmer and more immediate, offsetting the stone's geological weight. Together, the two materials define the studio's range: neither polished nor rough, but deliberately between.
Delivery
Every piece is packed and shipped under insurance, from the workshop to you. White glove delivery (unpacking, installation, packaging removal) is available on request. Delivery is not charged at checkout: we send you a quote within 24 business hours of your order. You have 5 days to accept and pay it (secure payment link or bank transfer), otherwise your order is cancelled and fully refunded.
