The story
The M_005 Bench in travertine is a monolithic stone bench from the Monolith Collection, designed by Marc Personick in New York.
A long horizontal slab of travertine rests on two solid block supports. Each support has its upper edge rounded in a continuous arc that meets the top surface without seam or visual interruption. The result is a piece without visible joint or mechanical connection, the stone appearing to have been extracted from a single mass. That sense of totality is the founding position of the Monolith studio.
The travertine presents a warm off-white ground. The porous surface records the natural stratification of the stone, the texture occupying a register between raw material and finished form.
The M_005 Bench exists in both travertine and white oak versions within the Monolith Collection. The stone version carries a particular weight and geological character that the M_005 Bench in wood, its companion piece, approaches from a different formal direction.
About Monolith
Monolith is a New York design studio and gallery founded in 2023 by Marc Personick. The practice centers on one formal idea: brutalist furniture design that belongs in the home with the same authority it occupies in architecture. Every piece begins with geometry and mass, then submits to the logic of the material.
Stone and wood structure the Monolith palette. Travertine, volcanic and porous, arrives cream-colored and marked by natural incident: veining, pores, the record of its formation. White oak runs warmer and more immediate, offsetting the stone's geological weight. Together, the two materials define the studio's range: neither polished nor rough, but deliberately between.
Delivery
Every piece is packed and shipped under insurance, from the workshop to you. White glove delivery (unpacking, installation, packaging removal) is available on request. Delivery is not charged at checkout: we send you a quote within 24 business hours of your order. You have 5 days to accept and pay it (secure payment link or bank transfer), otherwise your order is cancelled and fully refunded.
