The story
The form is a wide ovoid in chamotte, sand-beige and matte, standing slightly forward of its own center. A large semi-circular hollow has been carved into the front and lower portion, a deep alcove that cuts through the full thickness of the wall. The removed material is the subject of the piece. A small aperture at the top takes the G9 LED bulb.
Johanna de Clisson uses negative space as an active formal element. In Objet 28, the scale of the carved void is large relative to the remaining body: the scoop is not a notch but a declaration. The thicker mass at the back holds tension against the opening at the front. The light reaches the room through the hollow, not around it. Seen from above, in profile, and head-on, the piece presents three distinct readings.

About Johanna de Clisson
Artistic director, designer and ceramist, Johanna de Clisson is a complete artist. A graduate of ENSAD (National School of Decorative Arts), she began by practicing photography, working with a large-format view camera on still life.
In 2021, she created her label Hiromi, meaning “free-spirited beauty” in Japanese, a research studio specialized in design and ceramics. Her creations blend rough textured chamotte earthenware and sensual touch cracked enamel she sometimes associates with metal or wood in her immaculate studio-laboratory in the north of Paris.

Every piece is packed and shipped under insurance, from the workshop to you. White glove delivery (unpacking, installation, packaging removal) is available on request. Delivery is not charged at checkout: we send you a quote within 24 business hours of your order. You have 5 days to accept and pay it (secure payment link or bank transfer), otherwise your order is cancelled and fully refunded.
