The Écrin Banquette is a seat conceived with architectural discipline. Produced by Atelier PA, the French studio founded by Julien Pradignac, it belongs to a collection whose name, Écrin (French for jewel case), sets a precise standard: every piece is built to frame its space with the same rigour applied to a building's structure.
The bench reads as a clean horizontal plane. Proportion and shadow do most of the work; upholstery is applied with restraint, subordinate to the overall geometry rather than its dominant feature. There is no decoration added for effect; only decisions that contribute to the whole.
Atelier PA works at the intersection of architecture, interior design, and furniture, treating them as a single discipline. The studio's rational aesthetic is not a style but a method: authentic materials, considered detail, and the durability that comes from building things correctly. The Banquette embodies this logic without exception.
Handcrafted in France by artisans working closely with the studio, the Écrin Banquette is part of the Atelier PA collection on Monde Singulier.

About
Atelier PA
Atelier PA is a French design studio founded by Julien Pradignac, working across architecture, interior design, and furniture. Based in France, the studio treats these three disciplines as a single practice, each informing the others.
The studio's work is built around a rational aesthetic: form follows material logic. Pradignac begins with the authenticity of materials, their texture, weight, and behavior in light, then works outward to form, proportion, and rhythm. Shadow and light are treated as active elements, not byproducts. The goal is objects that are clear, legible, and resistant to novelty.
Each piece is developed in close collaboration with French artisans. Pradignac brings the design from the studio to the workshop and stays with it through the making process, maintaining the precision of the original concept at every stage. The result is handcrafted furniture with a focus on simplicity and durability over surface effect.
The Écrin collection, available on Monde Singulier, brings these principles into three pieces: the Écrin Armchair, Écrin Banquette, and Écrin Table. The collection plays with formal contrasts, curves against right angles and transparency against opacity, united by the way light reveals their contours and shifts through the day.
For Monde Singulier, Atelier PA represents collectible design in the French artisan tradition: considered, precise, and built for the long term.
