The W&M 25 Cyclope II is a floor lamp that reads as a sculptural object before it reads as a light source. The name alludes to the single illuminated eye at the piece's core: an off-white, subtly textured panel set in the upper section of a slender aluminum body, casting ambient light without directing it.
The form is vertical and rectangular, with disciplined proportions that work equally against a wall or as a freestanding element. The body is matte silver-grey aluminum. Two polished chrome cylindrical studs at the top indicate the precision metalwork that runs through the piece.
The Cyclope II connects to Walter & Moretti's 1970s spatial design lineage: functional objects that carry the sensibility of their era without making a period statement. Limited edition, handcrafted in France. Available through Monde Singulier.
Olivier Oksman is a French interior architect and aluminum furniture designer, trained at École Camondo in Paris. He is the owner and creative director of Walter & Moretti, an aluminum furniture brand established in 1972, today one of France's most consistent voices in collectible design.
