The story

Beautiful Piero Fornasetti decorative box made in Italy in the 1950s. This box is carved from mahogany wood, with painted varnished wood on both sides of the top, and brass side hinges. A collectible piece, perfect as a gift, with a very nice decorative presence, fully restored, and found in a very good vintage condition.

About Piero Fornasetti

Piero Fornasetti (1913-1988) was a Milanese painter, printer and designer. From the 1950s he applied lithographic and transfer-printed decoration to furniture, ceramics and objects, often in collaboration with Gio Ponti. His vocabulary of architectural perspectives, suns and the face of Lina Cavalieri in the Tema e Variazioni series gives his work a surreal wit. Collectors seek vintage pieces from his own workshop, identified by their labels and marks.
