The story
This beautiful desk lamp was designed by Oscar Torlasco and produced in Italy by Stilux Milano in the 1950s. It is made of solid brass, with a slick green lacquered metal base and shade. Both the shade and the stem adjust for angling of light. This lamp is an iconic creation of the designer but also a classic timeless twentieth-century design, mixing elegance and modernity. It would make a perfect addition to both a contemporary or mid-century desk. This lamp has been fully cleaned and restored, fully rewired with three E14 medium based sockets, and in great vintage condition.
About Oscar Torlasco
Oscar Torlasco was an Italian lighting designer who worked for Lumi in Milan during the 1950s and 1960s. His floor, table and ceiling lamps use brass, lacquered and perforated metal, and glass in light, articulated forms typical of Italian mid-century lighting. Collectors appreciate his lamps for their elegance and technical ingenuity, and look for pieces with original lacquer, shades and Lumi labels.
