The story
This beautiful pair of end tables, or side tables, by Maison Ramsay are from the 1950s, and carry with them the elegant mood of the neoclassical post art deco period. The wrought iron feet are glittering in an antiqued gold gilt finish, while the black lacquer tops give them a glam twist which makes a gracious compliment to both traditional and modern spaces. Their sophisticated and clean design are typical of the French neoclassical work by Maison Ramsay and offer a timeless look. These tables have been fully restored, black tops relacquered, with a beautiful gilded patina, and are found in a great vintage condition.
About Maison Ramsay
Maison Ramsay was a Parisian decorating house active from the 1930s to the 1960s. It became known for elegant neoclassical furniture in the Directoire and Louis XVI traditions, often in lacquered or gilded wood and bronze, including tables, consoles, seating and bouillotte lamps. Its production embodies the refined decorative taste of Parisian interiors of the period. Collectors value its pieces for their quality of execution and classical proportions.
