The story

Madeleine Castaing

Table basse en acajou par Madeleine Castaing.

About Madeleine Castaing

Madeleine Castaing (1894-1992) was a French decorator and antiques dealer whose shop on rue Jacob in Paris became a reference. She developed a romantic, eclectic style mixing Regency, Directoire and Napoleon III furniture with leopard-pattern carpets, bold colours and her celebrated pale Castaing blue. Her interiors include Jean Cocteau's villa Santo Sospir. Collectors seek pieces with Castaing provenance for their poetic and highly personal character.
