About Liceu de Artes e Ofícios
The Liceu de Artes e Ofícios de São Paulo, founded in 1873, is a school and workshop devoted to training craftsmen in the applied arts. Its workshops produced furniture, metalwork and architectural elements of high quality, and it remained an important centre of Brazilian craftsmanship throughout the twentieth century. Collectors look for documented pieces from the Liceu workshops, especially mid-century furniture in Brazilian hardwoods, valued for their construction.
