About Joseph-André Motte
French designer Joseph-André Motte (1925-2013) co-founded the Atelier de Recherche Plastique (ARP) in 1954 with Pierre Guariche and Michel Mortier. His rattan tripod chair for Rougier (1949) and his furniture for Steiner combine technical rigour with lightness. He later designed major public interiors, including airport and metro projects. Collectors seek his early rattan and wood pieces and ARP-era seating, which define French postwar modernism.
