The story

Rare and iconic serving trolley by Jean Royère in gilded metal with mirrored glass made circa 1950. Very good vintage condition with beautiful gilded patina.

Having opened a store in Paris in 1943 before the war had ended, Jean Royere was one of the first to promote a new way of life through interior decoration, and his lively approach found an international audience early on in his career.

About Jean Royère

Jean Royère (1902-1981) was a French decorator who began his career in the early 1930s and later worked extensively in the Middle East. He is known for exuberant, organic designs such as the Ours Polaire sofa, the Liane wall lights and the Boule and Tour Eiffel series, using sycamore, straw marquetry and lacquered metal. Collectors value his originality and colour, and seek pieces with documented provenance.
