The story
Trendy Scandinavian style and high quality manufacturing for this mid-century chandelier. These five-light brass chandelier was created by Swedish maker Hans-Agne Jakobsson for Markaryd back in the 1960s. The smoking glasses add a sense of mystery and intrigue to the brass and strike a tension between raw and refined. Ideal to highlight a lounge or an entry.
About Hans-Agne Jakobsson
Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919-2009) was a Swedish lighting designer who founded his own company in Markaryd in 1951. His lamps use pleated fabric, thin wood veneer, brass and glass to produce soft, diffused light. Ceiling lamps, wall lights and table lamps from his workshop defined Scandinavian domestic lighting in the 1950s and 1960s. Collectors look for pieces with original shades and fittings, which are difficult to replace.
