The story

This rare and beautiful French modernist desk was made by Georges Frydman for EFA editor in the late 1950s. It features a fully mahogany veneer on the asymmetrical top and two drawers with brass handles and lock, with black painted tubular metal structure. Beautifully vintage and typically French post Art Déco modernism, this desk has been fully restored and refinished, and is in great vintage condition. A rare find.

About Georges Frydman

Georges Frydman was a French furniture designer active from the 1950s, working through his own firm, EFA. He is known for dining tables, desks and seating that combine lacquered metal structures with wood, laminate or glass surfaces, in clean modernist forms. His work reflects the optimism of French design in the 1960s and 1970s. Collectors appreciate his furniture for its balanced proportions and its practical, well-made construction.
