The story

This large modernist Charles Dudouyt coffee table made in solid walnut wood is sure to add an element of French brutalism to any living room. It was designed and produced in France by Charles Dudouyt in the 1940s. It features a large slick varnished top resting on a solid brutalist base with carved geometrical details. This coffee table is a wonderful example of the French Art Déco and Modernism of the 1940s and 1950s. It has been fully restored, wood revarnished, and is in a beautiful condition. A monumental table, rare in these dimensions, that can be placed as a standout in your living room.

About Charles Dudouyt

Charles Dudouyt (1885-1946) was a French furniture designer and decorator who worked in Paris from the 1920s to the 1940s, selling through his shop La Gentilhommière. He favoured solid oak and other native woods, often combined with wrought iron, rope or straw, in sturdy forms that blend rustic tradition with a restrained modernism. Collectors value his tables, chairs and cabinets for their robust construction and the warmth of their aged wood.
