The story
The Glass Coffee Table is a sculptural low piece by Tatjana von Stein, from the Mise en Scène collection.
Its silhouette is organic and vessel-like: an elongated form with a wide, shallow opening and curved walls that taper toward the base. The proportions resist convention, proposing a surface that holds and contains as much as it displays. Von Stein's choreographic design language is present in the way the form reads differently depending on the viewer's position.
The exterior surfaces are clad in warm reddish-brown burl wood veneer, the organic figuring shifting across the curved body. The interior is lined with lacquered glass in a deep grey tone, the two materials placed in deliberate contrast: one warm and textured, the other cool and reflective. Produced with the French artisan group Aurige, the piece is made-to-order, numbered, signed, and delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
The Glass Coffee Table is part of the Mise en Scène collection (2023), Tatjana von Stein's first furniture line, which built its visual language around the spatial tension found in dance.
About Tatjana von Stein
Tatjana von Stein works from London as a collectible furniture designer, bringing a French-German perspective to a practice that moves between interior architecture and sculptural form.
Her approach centers on the psychology of space: the premise that furniture shapes how people feel in a room as much as it furnishes it. Von Stein established her reputation as co-founder of Sella Concept in 2016, an interior architecture practice that sharpened her understanding of how objects and enclosure interact. In 2023 she founded her eponymous studio, turning that accumulated thinking toward made-to-order collectible furniture, pieces numbered and signed, each delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
