The story
The Boe Lounge Armchair is a low-profile seat by Studio Paolo Ferrari, part of the Editions Paolo Ferrari collection.
The silhouette is defined by a continuous, rounded back that flows into armrests without interruption, forming a single upholstered shell. The chair sits close to the ground, its horizontal emphasis reinforced by the curve that runs all the way around the seat. A matching rounded cushion rests within the shell, its loose form contrasting with the tighter geometry of the surrounding frame.
The upholstery is a dark brown boucle-like fabric, richly textured and tactile. The material carries mid-century references, but the form here is contemporary: the low profile and the continuous shell push the piece toward sculpture rather than period revival. Four slender black wooden legs complete the base, their tone relating to the dark upholstery while maintaining a clear material distinction.

About Studio Paolo Ferrari
Studio Paolo Ferrari is a Toronto-based interior design practice founded in 2016 by Paolo Ferrari. Before establishing the studio, Ferrari served as Design Director at Yabu Pushelberg for six years, building technical depth in luxury hospitality projects across North America and Europe.
The studio's approach treats each commission as a contained world. Ferrari draws on cinema, art, and architecture as structural references, particularly the spatial storytelling of Kubrick and Lynch, the material rigor of Donald Judd, and the formal precision of Alvar Aalto. This framing informs the studio's defining move: pairing materials and aesthetics from different eras until the space holds genuine tension. The Secret Room at Five Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, with fresco-like walls against a futuristic bar volume, is one of the more cited examples. The Long Bar & Terrace at Raffles Boston won the AHEAD Americas Award in 2024.
