The story
The Beveled Edge Table is a round occasional table by Studio Paolo Ferrari, produced as part of Editions Paolo Ferrari.
Its most distinct feature is the thick tabletop, cut with a pronounced bevel along the full perimeter. This edge treatment catches light differently from every angle and gives the piece its architectural weight without adding visual mass. The surface reveals prominent horizontal grain running across the full disc, in a greyed oak with a neutral, dusty palette.
The base is a solid square pedestal, substantial in proportion to anchor the rounded top. There is no ornamental detail; the design resolves through proportion and material honesty. The choice of prominently grained wood over a lacquered or stained finish is deliberate: it positions the Beveled Edge Table closer to object than to décor.
Handcrafted in Canada, the table follows the core logic of Editions Paolo Ferrari: natural materials, legible forms, and a refusal of decorative gesture.
About Studio Paolo Ferrari
Studio Paolo Ferrari is a Toronto-based interior design practice founded in 2016 by Paolo Ferrari. Before establishing the studio, Ferrari served as Design Director at Yabu Pushelberg for six years, building technical depth in luxury hospitality projects across North America and Europe.
The studio's approach treats each commission as a contained world. Ferrari draws on cinema, art, and architecture as structural references, particularly the spatial storytelling of Kubrick and Lynch, the material rigor of Donald Judd, and the formal precision of Alvar Aalto. This framing informs the studio's defining move: pairing materials and aesthetics from different eras until the space holds genuine tension. The Secret Room at Five Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, with fresco-like walls against a futuristic bar volume, is one of the more cited examples. The Long Bar & Terrace at Raffles Boston won the AHEAD Americas Award in 2024.
