The story
The Ode Three Legged Stool is a solid pine accent stool by Sizar Alexis, part of the Ode series within the Sizar Alexis Collection.
Its form centers on an octagonal seat supported by three faceted legs, each with a geometric cross-section that narrows toward the floor without losing its angular character. The tripod base is stable and visually direct: three contact points sufficient to anchor the stool's substantial top without structural redundancy. From above, the octagonal seat reads as a cropped circle; from the side, the faceted legs create a low, planar silhouette that belies the piece's weight.
The stool is made from pine, darkened to a deep charcoal through staining rather than paint, so the wood's natural grain remains present and legible across the faceted surfaces. This tension between raw material and precise geometry runs through the Ode series: forms that appear hewn from a block but are built through deliberate geometric decisions.
The Ode Three Legged Stool extends the Sizar Alexis Collection's vocabulary into functional accent objects, where the same Mesopotamian-influenced geometric logic operates at a more intimate scale.
About Sizar Alexis

Sizar Alexis is a Swedish-Iraqi designer based in Eskilstuna, working at the intersection of Scandinavian brutalist design and ancient Mesopotamian heritage.
Before founding his studio in 2019, Alexis spent six years as a design engineer at Volvo, then studied fine arts at Beckmans College of Design. That formation, between industrial engineering and fine arts, shapes his practice throughout. He works with blackened steel, pine wood, and leather, materials both abundant in the Swedish landscape and tied to Eskilstuna's historic steel industry. Components for his pieces are produced in his father's metal tool factory, then hand-assembled in his own studio.
