**Like an honest signature on a fake ID**

Astoria Ditmars is a low architectural piece from the third chapter of YES, OFF COURSE, defined by an unusually long, linear silhouette. Its slatted upper plane extends over a composition of angular supports that seem to have been arranged according to several competing systems. Seen from above, the rhythm is disciplined and almost graphic. Below, the geometry becomes more unpredictable: folded planes, contrasting volumes, and open intervals shift the apparent centre of gravity. The piece maintains its composure without ever becoming entirely conventional. Piano-black lacquer, ivory-white lacquer, anodized aluminum, and radica wood articulate the contrast between the precision of the upper surface and the more complex structure beneath it.
