The story
Special edition in velvet of the iconic Arès armchair, by ROCHE & FRÈRES exclusively for Monde Singulier.
Inspired by the metal parts of armor, the armchair takes on a warrior, masculine character, hence its name "Arès", evoking the myth of the god of war in Greek mythology.
The black mat steel frame forms both the arms and the base, with beige vertical accents integrated into the side panels. Upholstered in beige Perla velvet. Raw in appearance, the curves bring balance between force and softness. Handcrafted in France.
About Roche & Frères
Alexandre and Maxence Roche are twin brothers and interior designers who founded their studio Roche & Frères in Paris in 2022. Originally from Le Puy-en-Velay in Haute-Loire, they grew up against the raw mountain landscape of south-central France, where winters between the Mézenc and Saint-Front left their mark.
After completing master's degrees in interior architecture and theatre scenography, the two turned toward object and furniture design with a single conviction: the piece of furniture is a jewel. Each design is built around the relationship between object, body, space, and time. Every piece tells a story drawn from personal memory and a wide historical perspective.
