The story

Porto Chair No7 is the most architecturally assertive model in the Porto Chair series from Project 213A. A repeating scalloped cutout, bold curved notches along the vertical edges, runs through the tall backrest, the seat sides, and the base, giving the entire piece a unified ornamental language. The result is a chair where the wood's negative space is as considered as its solid mass, and where every surface carries the same carved rhythm.

The chair is hand carved in solid walnut by skilled artisans in Northern Portugal. Dark-toned and dense-grained, the walnut absorbs the light differently across carved and flat surfaces, creating subtle relief that shifts throughout the day. The substantial proportions of Porto Chair No7 make it a piece that reads as sculpture even when empty.

It belongs to the Project 213A Collection, the debut furniture range of Project 213A, the design house founded in 2021 by Jurgita Dileviciute, Theresa Marx, and Clement Deboeuf. Collection names reference Portuguese cities and regions, tracing the geography of the artisan tradition behind the work.

About Project 213A
Project 213A

Project 213A is a Portuguese design house founded in 2021 by Jurgita Dileviciute, Theresa Marx, and Clement Deboeuf. The name comes from a London address where each founder lived at separate points during their studies, a shared geography that preceded their professional collaboration.

The idea for the studio took shape during the 2020 lockdown, when the three founders combined their professional backgrounds to build something together. Project 213A has operated from in-house ceramic and wood workshops in Northern Portugal since its launch, working alongside skilled local artisans whose traditional craftsmanship shapes every piece in the catalog.
