The story
The Section Square Mirror is a wall-mounted cabinet in light grey metal with a clear glass front and an off-white grooved interior, featuring an integrated open cubby shelf at the base, designed by Paul Coenen for the Section collection.
The form is taller than wide, reading from a distance as a slim rectangular frame. The glass front reveals an interior lined with subtle horizontal grooves that catch light differently from the smooth metal exterior. At the bottom, an open shelf compartment breaks the otherwise continuous interior, providing a practical ledge within the cabinet's volume.
The light grey metal frame and off-white grooved lining create a quiet tonal shift inside the object. The clear glass front sits flush with the outer face, giving the piece a clean profile with no projecting elements. The interior grooves are the only surface texture, applied to the off-white finish rather than the metal.
Available at Monde Singulier, the Section Square Mirror extends the Section collection into wall-mounted territory. Paul Coenen's material-first method translates directly here: the cabinet's depth and transparency replace solid mass without changing the formal register of the series.
About Paul Coenen

Paul Coenen (b. 1992) is a designer based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, whose work embodies an experimental, hands-on approach rooted in a deep fascination with materials and the interplay between modern and traditional manufacturing techniques.
With each project, Coenen works to unearth the possibilities and limitations of his chosen materials, letting them guide and shape the outcome. The final form of each object is a direct consequence of the materials used and the techniques applied, not of pre-conceived design intentions. This gives his pieces a material authenticity that places them firmly within the Dutch experimental design tradition, where Eindhoven's culture has long nurtured makers who put investigation before convention.
