The story
The Nubo Pedestal by Mathieu Delacroix is a travertine pedestal from the Nubo collection, available exclusively through Monde Singulier.
The form is cylindrical and vertical, but an S-shaped cut-out on one side breaks the mass without undermining it. Taller than its sibling the Nubo Stool, it shifts function toward display: a sculptural surface for an object, a lamp, or a plant.
Light beige travertine carries horizontal striations and porous surface texture across every face. The cut-out casts shadow differently depending on the light, so the piece changes through the day.
The Nubo collection was conceived as a family of domestic sculptures in stone. The Nubo Pedestal is the most architecturally assertive of the group: a column-like form that acknowledges both the wall and the room.
About Mathieu Delacroix
Mathieu Delacroix is a French designer based in Paris, working across object, furniture, and interior design. A graduate of the École Supérieure d'Art et Design de Saint-Étienne (2016), he also studied at Nagoya City University in Japan, an experience that continues to inform his approach to form, material, and the cultural weight carried by everyday objects.
His early work earned international recognition at Dubai Design Week, the Milan Design Week, and PAD London. He also won First Prize in the Cinna Young Talent competition for his Tasso vase series. Alongside collaborations with studios including Guillaume Delvigne, Frédéric Forest & Clémentine Giaconia, and RDAI, Delacroix maintains an independent practice rooted in drawing, emotion, and material exploration.
