The story
The Arlo Armchair by Pierre Favresse builds its presence through structure: high-gloss black lacquered beech forms cylindrical legs, posts, and armrests that terminate in flat circular caps, framing a round ivory bouclé seat. No element is decorative in isolation. Every joint is both function and form, recalling the proportional discipline of Japanese architectural joinery.
Designed within the Arlo family's language of revealed structure and quiet rhythm, the armchair draws directly on Favresse's training at the École Boulle, where cabinetmaking is understood as a dialogue between material and geometry. The torii-gate silhouette emerges from constraint, not addition.
A chair for considered interiors: reading rooms, studies, or alongside a dining table where material honesty is the primary criterion.
About Maison Pierre Favresse
Pierre Favresse is one of the most recognized French designers of his generation. His work explores the intersection of craftsmanship, innovation and human experience.
Trained as a cabinetmaker at École Boulle before graduating from l'École des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, he began his career alongside designer Mathieu Lehanneur, eventually becoming director of his studio. This formative experience shaped his belief that design can create meaningful connections between people, objects and their environment.
