The story
The Butterfly Armchair by Pierre Favresse is structured around a single continuous gesture: deep burgundy lacquered fiberglass forms the shell, the wings, and the flared oval base without seam or transition. The back rises and curves inward, wrapping around the sitter in the posture that Favresse associates with the idea of interior landscape. No frame is visible; the shell is the structure.
About Maison Pierre Favresse
Pierre Favresse is one of the most recognized French designers of his generation. His work explores the intersection of craftsmanship, innovation and human experience.
Trained as a cabinetmaker at École Boulle before graduating from l'École des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, he began his career alongside designer Mathieu Lehanneur, eventually becoming director of his studio. This formative experience shaped his belief that design can create meaningful connections between people, objects and their environment.
