The story
The Eight Over Eight Grande is a table lamp from the Louise Roe Collection that brings two contrasting materials into a single precise form.
The base is a tall, slender column of natural travertine, hexagonal in section. The stone is left in its natural state, the porous surface and characteristic mineral deposits visible without alteration. Each base presents a distinct mineral pattern: veins, voids, and sediment layers that no two pieces share. Above it, a hexagonal fabric shade in off-white sits flush with the geometry of the stone column, carrying the hexagonal grid from base to crown.
Louise Roe combines natural stone with brushed metal across her collections, and the Eight Over Eight Grande represents the stone side of that material range. The travertine is European-sourced, worked by the independent craftspeople Louise Roe has collaborated with since founding her label in Copenhagen in 2010.
The lamp takes its name from the two-to-one proportional relationship between shade and base, a ratio that defines every piece in the Eight Over Eight family within the Louise Roe Collection.
About Louise Roe

Louise Roe is a Copenhagen-based designer whose practice spans vessels, ceramics, lighting, and furniture. Founded in 2010, the studio draws on the material clarity of Danish design while incorporating the production rigour Roe developed during her training in fashion and concept development.
That background shapes a distinctive method. Roe approaches each piece as she once approached garments: tracing it from sketch to finished form, managing the full production arc rather than delegating it. She works in close partnership with skilled independent craftspeople across Europe, artisans who have refined their disciplines across generations. Materials are chosen for honesty. Glass, ceramic, textile, stone, and oak appear throughout her collections as structural choices rather than decorative ones.
