The story
With natural light wood and exposed joinery, Fauteuil n°1 is a solid armchair from L'Établissement atelier in La Courneuve. The wide, flat armrests and generous seat give it a grounded, architectural presence that reads clearly in any interior.
Thick cushions in reddish-orange woven textile sit atop the frame. The colour is immediate, the weave substantial. Quentin Pigeat trained for a decade as an architect before turning to woodworking. The Fauteuil n°1 carries that background in its proportions and its joinery, which is left visible as a deliberate material choice.
Available in the standard configuration or customised on request at the La Courneuve atelier.
About L'Établissement
L'Établissement is an artisan furniture workshop in La Courneuve, north of Paris. Quentin Pigeat founded it in 2022 after ten years as an architect, bringing a trained eye for proportion and structure to a practice rooted in carpentry and joinery.
The workshop makes handcrafted wooden furniture and objects from solid materials: oak, walnut, and raw timber chosen for their natural character. Pigeat's approach follows the French tradition of menuiserie, with structural joints, honest material use, and surfaces left to show how the wood was worked. No veneer, no finish that conceals the grain.
Delivery
Every piece is packed and shipped under insurance, from the workshop to you. White glove delivery (unpacking, installation, packaging removal) is available on request. Delivery is not charged at checkout: we send you a quote within 24 business hours of your order. You have 5 days to accept and pay it (secure payment link or bank transfer), otherwise your order is cancelled and fully refunded.
