The Constant Nightstand is a cylindrical storage piece from Kevin Frankental's Lemon Collection.
Its drum form is wrapped in highly figured burl wood veneer, warm light-to-medium brown, the grain shifting with each angle of view. Small recessed metal accents punctuate the surface as hinges or pulls, the only hardware in an otherwise unbroken wood skin. The cylindrical form is proportioned carefully: slightly taller than wide, stable without being squat.
Burl veneer is chosen for its unrepeatable character. No two panels share the same swirling figuring, making each Constant singular by material alone. The wood's warmth and irregularity contrast with the precision of the drum geometry, holding these two qualities in productive tension.
The piece belongs to Lemon's ongoing interest in forms excavated from design history. The drum cabinet, stripped of ornament and restated in natural materials, becomes something simultaneously archival and present.

About
Lemon Furniture
Lemon's foundation is shaped by the vision of Creative Director Kevin Frankental. With a love for design history, Kevin draws inspiration from historic design, film and art, focusing on uncovering what makes a piece truly timeless.
"There's often a tendency to romanticize the past, which I believe drives today's nostalgia", he explains. "While not everything was better before, certain classics stand the test of time and resonate across generations."
In a world increasingly marked by a sense of sameness in fashion, beauty, and design, Lemon turns away from trends. "We have no interest in looking at what's new for inspiration; doing so often results in just another version of something that already exists", Kevin reflects.
Lemon's creative process involves delving into archives: historical design, film, art, fashion, or anything that sparks inspiration. Sometimes, it's as simple as an old, beautiful photograph. From these influences, Lemon creates pieces that are a contemporary nod to the past. Each item is thoughtfully designed to be useful and needed, often inspired by objects they would love to own but cannot find elsewhere.
The result is elegantly simple pieces designed for everyday use and admiration. Each creation evokes nostalgia and romance while staying true to traditional craftsmanship, sitting naturally in contemporary spaces.
Working in collaboration with designers from Kevin's native South Africa and beyond, Lemon ensures each piece finds its own unique place. Browse the full Lemon Furniture collection on Monde Singulier.
