The story
The Thing 1 Stool is part of the Konekt Collection, produced by Helena and Natasha Sultan in Pennsylvania. Wide and low in proportion, it pairs a circular warm brown velvet seat with a full skirt of natural horsehair fringe that descends from a polished brass band at the mid-section. The drum form is unambiguous, its shape prioritizing solidity and presence over height.
The velvet top is hand-stitched at the Konekt studio. The brass band that divides the stool provides both structural support and a material boundary, separating the refined upholstery above from the coarse natural fiber below. The horsehair hangs long and loose, giving the base a tactile density that anchors the piece visually.
The Thing series from the Konekt Collection is available in four stool styles, each distinguished by a specific upholstery color and material combination. Thing 1 pairs warm brown velvet with polished brass and natural horsehair. Each stool is customizable in shape and size and handmade in Pennsylvania.
About Konekt
Konekt is a sculptural furniture and lighting studio based in Pennsylvania, led by mother-daughter team Helena and Natasha Sultan. Their practice starts from material: its physical properties, its craft histories, and what happens when unexpected materials are brought together with traditional ones.
Helena and Natasha produce handcrafted furniture and lighting that pairs contrasting qualities in a single object. Strength and fragility, solidity and fluidity, refinement and play: these are not tensions the work resolves, but tensions the work is made of. Each piece carries that balance in its surface, its form, and its finish.
Delivery
Every piece is packed and shipped under insurance, from the workshop to you. White glove delivery (unpacking, installation, packaging removal) is available on request. Delivery is not charged at checkout: we send you a quote within 24 business hours of your order. You have 5 days to accept and pay it (secure payment link or bank transfer), otherwise your order is cancelled and fully refunded.
