The story
The River Stool takes its form from stones shaped by moving water: an organic, gently asymmetrical body built from hand-layered fiberglass and gel coat, a process Konekt carries out over several days to achieve the intended surface quality. The resulting form is soft in outline but solid underfoot, with curved sides that taper subtly toward the base.
The cream version shown here combines translucent and opaque gel coat in a single finish, a formulation that gives the surface depth and movement not achievable through standard lacquering or painting. A flat square cushion in shaggy white textile rests on top, introducing warmth and texture against the smooth fiberglass body.
Available in black high gloss, matte black, and cream. Also offered in a matching River Side Table format. Made by hand in Pennsylvania by Helena and Natasha Sultan's Konekt studio. Part of the Konekt Collection.
About Konekt
Konekt is a sculptural furniture and lighting studio based in Pennsylvania, led by mother-daughter team Helena and Natasha Sultan. Their practice starts from material: its physical properties, its craft histories, and what happens when unexpected materials are brought together with traditional ones.
Helena and Natasha produce handcrafted furniture and lighting that pairs contrasting qualities in a single object. Strength and fragility, solidity and fluidity, refinement and play: these are not tensions the work resolves, but tensions the work is made of. Each piece carries that balance in its surface, its form, and its finish.
