The story
The Rib Floor Lamp Sphere brings Konekt's ribbed glass vocabulary to floor-lamp scale. A spherical opal glass shade sits within a dark bronze armature of vertical ribs that trace its circumference, the structural motif of the Rib collection rendered as a freestanding piece that holds space in a room.
Handmade in Pennsylvania by Helena and Natasha Sultan's studio, the lamp pairs the translucent warmth of opal glass with the density of dark bronze metalwork. Opal glass distributes light evenly across its entire curved surface, diffusing without directing, producing ambient illumination suitable for living rooms, reading corners, or gallery-like residential settings.
The Sphere belongs to a family of Rib floor lamp silhouettes that also includes Ellipse and Capsule forms. All three share the same blown glass and ribbed bronze construction, and all belong to the Konekt Collection, a line of furniture and lighting made by hand in Pennsylvania using traditional craft alongside unexpected material pairings.
About Konekt
Konekt is a sculptural furniture and lighting studio based in Pennsylvania, led by mother-daughter team Helena and Natasha Sultan. Their practice starts from material: its physical properties, its craft histories, and what happens when unexpected materials are brought together with traditional ones.
Helena and Natasha produce handcrafted furniture and lighting that pairs contrasting qualities in a single object. Strength and fragility, solidity and fluidity, refinement and play: these are not tensions the work resolves, but tensions the work is made of. Each piece carries that balance in its surface, its form, and its finish.
