The story
The Rib Floor Lamp Ellipse is a sculptural floor lamp from the Konekt Collection, its elliptical opal glass shade segmented by dark bronze ribs and supported on a slender floor-standing structure.
The ellipse form gives the lamp a horizontal orientation at shade level, wider than it is tall, casting light across a broad arc. This distinguishes it from the sphere and capsule variants in the Rib floor lamp series, which read as more vertically compact. Dark bronze ribs divide the elliptical glass at regular intervals, their geometry reading from across the room.
Opal glass filters light into a warm, diffuse ambient output without concentrated hot spots. The bronze ribbing and the glass sit in material tension throughout: rigid and translucent, dark and luminous. The slender base keeps the visual weight at the top, where the shade is.
Part of the Rib series within the Konekt Collection by Helena and Natasha Sultan, handmade in Pennsylvania. The floor lamp is also available in sphere and capsule forms.
About Konekt
Konekt is a sculptural furniture and lighting studio based in Pennsylvania, led by mother-daughter team Helena and Natasha Sultan. Their practice starts from material: its physical properties, its craft histories, and what happens when unexpected materials are brought together with traditional ones.
Helena and Natasha produce handcrafted furniture and lighting that pairs contrasting qualities in a single object. Strength and fragility, solidity and fluidity, refinement and play: these are not tensions the work resolves, but tensions the work is made of. Each piece carries that balance in its surface, its form, and its finish.
