The story

The Whoody Bench by José Lévy is a minimalist seating piece in deep muted green glass, part of the Whoody collection created with Monde Singulier.

Where the Bang Bang Bench proposes modularity, the Bench is complete in itself: a single, self-contained form. The proportions are measured: a rectangular top that extends horizontally without excess, supported by tapered A-shaped legs in grey and silver metal. A horizontal support beam connects the leg structures beneath, reinforcing the clean geometry without adding visual weight.

The surface material is the quiet focal point of the piece: a deep, muted green glass top that absorbs and reflects light in equal measure. It has a tactile presence, cooler and more mineral than lacquer, with a visual depth that rewards close attention. The A-frame leg structure, in varying tones of grey and silver, gives the piece a grounded architectural quality.

Taken alongside the Bang Bang Bench, the two pieces form a coherent seating vocabulary within the Whoody collection, one that privileges material richness and structural logic over ornament.

Available exclusively through Monde Singulier.

About José Lévy
José Lévy

José Lévy is a multidisciplinary artist who navigates fluidly between the decorative and plastic arts, infusing them with poetry and humor. Each of his creations expresses a distinctive blend of fantasy and rigor.

This project continues his broader body of work, which is characterized by a constant dialogue between French and Japanese cultures. José Lévy has maintained a close relationship with Japan since childhood, thanks to his grandparents, official suppliers of tatami mats for the Olympic Games and collectors of Japanese art. This early fascination was later reinforced through numerous collaborations with Japan, including his solo show at the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris, where he created Le Veilleur, a seven-meter paper lamp in the shape of a samurai. This emblematic work symbolizes Franco-Japanese cultural interaction and illustrates his talent for blending traditions into a contemporary language.
