The story
The Manhattan Rectangular Coffee Table is a low, long table designed by Girodroux & Delpy for the Manhattan collection, created exclusively for Monde Singulier.
Its top is a smooth, rectangular plane of dark brown solid wood, its corners softened into gentle curves. Below, four legs are each built from multiple stacked cylindrical elements, their surfaces carrying the marks of hand-carving: a deliberately rough texture that recalls the structure of raw wood or totemic forms. The contrast between the polished horizontal surface and the sculptural, stratified supports is the defining gesture of the piece.
The table is crafted from solid wood throughout, with the carved leg elements assembled and finished in a consistent deep, matte tone. The distinction between smooth and textured surfaces is maintained as a design choice, not masked by uniform finishing.
Within the Manhattan collection, the Rectangular Coffee Table pairs naturally with the sofas and armchairs of the range, its proportions calibrated for low seating configurations. The piece carries the sculptural character that runs through Girodroux & Delpy's Manhattan work, where references to primal art traditions surface in the structural elements.
About Girodroux & Delpy
Laure Girodroux and Louis-Henri Delpy established their Paris studio in 2013, working across interior architecture and furniture design. Their practice sits at the intersection of architectural rigour and artisanal precision, drawing from the decorative arts of the 1950s to 1980s, from Jean Royere's biomorphic forms to Andree Putman's sober modernism.
The duo's approach refuses the decorative for its own sake. Each project, whether a private residence or a bespoke furniture commission, is framed as a question: how much can be pared back before the essential disappears? That tension between restraint and generosity runs through every piece they sign.

Every piece is packed and shipped under insurance, from the workshop to you. White glove delivery (unpacking, installation, packaging removal) is available on request. Delivery is not charged at checkout: we send you a quote within 24 business hours of your order.
