The story

The Manhattan Console is a low-profile console table designed by Girodroux & Delpy for the Manhattan collection, created exclusively for Monde Singulier.

Its form is built around contrast: a smooth, dark brown rectangular top rests on two cylindrical support pillars composed of stacked, hand-carved segments. The rough-hewn texture of the base, carved to evoke the density of ancient material, stands against the clean horizontal plane of the tabletop. The proportions are grounded and deliberate, with the low stance giving the piece an almost architectural weight.

The console is crafted from solid wood throughout. The base segments are carved by hand, each stack assembled to emphasize the natural grain and the marks of the tool. The finish is matte and dark, consistent across top and base.

Part of the Manhattan collection, the Console belongs to Girodroux & Delpy's exploration of the dialogue between urban geometry and primal sculptural traditions, a formal language developed in collaboration with craftsmen whose technical mastery is central to the studio's practice.

About Girodroux & Delpy
Girodroux & Delpy

Laure Girodroux and Louis-Henri Delpy established their Paris studio in 2013, working across interior architecture and furniture design. Their practice sits at the intersection of architectural rigour and artisanal precision, drawing from the decorative arts of the 1950s to 1980s, from Jean Royere's biomorphic forms to Andree Putman's sober modernism.

The duo's approach refuses the decorative for its own sake. Each project, whether a private residence or a bespoke furniture commission, is framed as a question: how much can be pared back before the essential disappears? That tension between restraint and generosity runs through every piece they sign.
