The story
The Milan Armchair is an armchair by GEOSTUDIO, part of the Fusion collection by the Istanbul interior design studio.
The piece is built around a strong material contrast: dark brown polished wood forms both the armrests and the continuous vertical elements that extend from arm to floor, framing the upholstered body from the outside. This structure defines the armchair's proportions from the side view, where the wood acts as both support and visual boundary. The form is compact and grounded, with a sturdy presence that does not depend on size.
The seat and back are upholstered in cream-colored textured fabric, with a surface that has a fine relief pattern. The fabric's lightness reads against the richness of the polished wood, each material amplifying the other. The wood is finished to a high shine, with the grain visible beneath the surface treatment.
Within the Fusion collection, the Milan Armchair complements the Prague Chair as a distinct seating proposition, favoring a more architectural material interplay over the Prague Chair's classic refinement.
About Geostudio
Founded in Istanbul in 2021 by Mahmut Anlar, Tuğçe Örtmen, and Sinan Bora Özışık, GEOSTUDIO works across residential interiors, retail environments, and boutique hotels. The studio’s approach brings functionality and visual coherence into close alignment, with each project developed through direct collaboration between the three founders and their clients.
Beyond commissioned interiors, the trio extends their practice to collectible furniture. The Fusion collection, comprising seating and table pieces named after European cities, reflects an interest in global visual dialogue translated through a distinctly Turkish sensibility. The Prague Chair, Vienna Sofa, and Kong Chair are proportioned for comfort and finished with material precision; the Hong Kong Coffee Table and Milan Armchair complete an ensemble suited to both residential and hospitality settings.
