The story
The Cyprès Sofa is a low-profile seating piece by Frédéric Imbert, hand-sculpted from local French woods and designed for both indoor and outdoor use.
The form takes its name and its silhouette from the cypress trees of Morbihan. Imbert observed their branch structures and extracted a line that sits between strength and flexibility. The result is a set of dark wood legs carved into irregular organic forms, supporting a slender wood-trimmed frame. The upholstery is light beige textile, integrated into a rounded backrest. Two bolster pillows complete the piece: one rectangular, one round with a dark stripe.
The base is carved by hand, through what Imbert describes as "thousands of gestures". He draws from a selection of local French wood species, varying the material from piece to piece to reflect the diversity of the forest. The Cyprès Sofa is produced in both an indoor version and as outdoor furniture, the same sculptural form serving both configurations.
This piece belongs to the Cyprès collection, which translates the landscapes of Morbihan into domestic objects through handcraft and local material.
About Frédéric Imbert
Founded in 2019, Frédéric Imbert studio develops interiors, furniture, and scenography through research into new materials and textures.
With an office in Paris and a workshop in Normandy, Frédéric maintains complete visibility over every stage of a project, from the architecture down to the smallest detail. Also based in Beirut, a key city for his practice, the studio works internationally through collaborations with artisans and galleries including Jag (Paris), Aequo (India) and Chaos in Beirut.

Every piece is packed and shipped under insurance, from the workshop to you. White glove delivery (unpacking, installation, packaging removal) is available on request. Delivery is not charged at checkout: we send you a quote within 24 business hours of your order. You have 5 days to accept and pay it (secure payment link or bank transfer), otherwise your order is cancelled and fully refunded.
