The story
The Stellata floor lamp stands at eye level and asks to be looked at closely. Its shade is an elongated oval of ribbed off-white textile, its vertical seams pressed into a sculptural form that echoes the magnolia blossom without illustrating it literally. A slender brushed champagne steel stem carries the shade from a round concrete base: a cold, geological material set against warm precision-worked metal.
François Bazin trained at the Versailles School of Architecture before directing his practice toward furniture and lighting. That formation is visible in the proportions of Stellata: the ratio of base to stem to shade follows a classical logic, rebuilt here in contemporary materials and a limited-production context.
The floor lamp was designed exclusively for Monde Singulier and produced in small series alongside French artisans, with Bazin present at each stage of production. It suits corner placements where the full height and silhouette can be read, and holds as a sculptural presence independent of the room's ambient lighting.
About François Bazin

François Bazin trained at the Versailles School of Architecture, where the study of classical arts and garden architecture shaped the visual language he still applies. His studio produces furniture, interiors and lighting that draw their forms from the natural world: botanical structures, organic volumes, the measured geometries of plant life and landscape.
Each piece is produced in small series in French artisan ateliers. Bazin follows every stage of production, from first prototype to finished object, dialoguing with the craftsmen and contributing directly to key manufacturing phases. This close involvement is how the studio promotes the talent and savoir-faire of French artisans, while maintaining the material precision that defines the work.
